Subic Bay Freeport joins Int'l Coastal Clean Up SUBIC BAY FREEPORT - More than 3,000 employees of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), freeport workers and students from various local schools took part in the International Coastal Clean Up (ICC) in different areas here over the weekend. ICC was organized by the SBMA Ecology Center, Lighthouse Marina Resort Legacy Foundation, in coordination with the provincial government of Zambales, SBMA and the city government of Olongapo. Garcia added that the ICC is in line with the SBMA's newly launched drive called 'Operation Facelift', which aims to further attract investors and boost local tourism by enhancing the natural beauty of the free port. ICC is the largest volunteer effort in preserving our ocean. It was initiated by the Ocean Conservatory, a non-governmental organization that advocates for a healthy ocean and raises awarenes on the long-term effects of ocean trash to the environment. (30)
