SBMA preps up for 'funtastic' tourism week

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT - In line with the celebration of the National Tourism Week starting September 22, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) has lined up several activities centering on the theme "Tourism and Community Development".

SBMA Chairman Roberto Garcia said that the week-long tourism celebration will officially begin with a motorcade that will start out in front of the SBMA administration building, go around the main streets of nearby Olongapo City, then wend its way back to the SBMA Gym.

Simultaneously, the SBMA Labor Department will be conducting on that day a job fair for thousands of job hunters at the Activity Center of Harbor Point Ayala Mall from 8:00 in the morning.

Meanwhile, SBMA employees will also be treated to a familiarization tour of some tourist attractions in the Freeport on September 22. The SBMA Tourism Department will put up another tour for employees on September 25.

On September 26, visitors to the Freeport will be greeted with drum beats and an eyeful of colorful banners as participants from various schools show their skills in the Olongapo City Drum and Lyre Competition at the Remy Field.

On the same day, the Harbor Point Mall Activity Center promises to be a venue for fun, laughter and excitement as contestants vie in the elimination and final rounds of the "Subic Bay Got Talent" contest.

The SBMA also invites the public to see the trade and photo exhibits that will run throughout the week at the Harbor Point Mall.
