The Agency's Employee of the Month and Year (EOM/Y) Program began in 2006, under the initiative of then Administrator and CEO Armand C. Arreza with the aim of recognizing outstanding SBMA personnel who personify the Agency's core values of malasakit, excellence and passion.The program was to establish a sound and unified award system for recognizing SBMA employees who would demonstrate exemplary performance in their respective work and which performance would greatlyimpact on the timely accomplishment/realization of the objectives of the employees' department/office.
In March 2006, a couple of months after the instructions was madefor such an awards system to be rolled out across the organization, the Human Resource Management Department (HRMD)finally submitted its Policy and Procedure recommendations and had them approved by the Administrator.
Subsequently, the award system known as the "Employee of the Month and Year Program" was institutionalized for all the departments and offices of the Agency's six (6) Strategic Business Units (SBUs); namely, the Chairman and Administrator's Group, the Internal Services Group, the Aviation and Maritime Operations Group, the Regulatory Group, the Business and Investment Group, and the Public Services Group.
The selected Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year should have consistently demonstrated the following for the duration of the period for which they have been nominated:
