About Us

The Legal Department is one of the SBMA offices working under the Office of the Senior Deputy Administrator for Internal Services Group (ISG). It is likewise one of two offices under the Office of the Deputy Administrator for Legal Affairs.

It is composed of the following divisions:

• Contracts and Documentation Division
• Litigation & Collection Division

The Legal Department is composed of Eighteen (18) employees: Seven (7) lawyers and Eleven (11) staff members.

Our office maintains a library that is equipped with law books and a records section where records of SBMA's cases as well as SBMA's contracts with other entities, including government agencies, are stored. These may be accessed by other SBMA departments upon prior notice.

MISSION

To be at the forefront in supporting SBMA Management's objectives and directions through timely, sound, competent, reliable and practical delivery of legal advice and services.

Our Functions

• Represent SBMA in judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative bodies
• Draft or review drafts of legal documents, e.g. Lease Agreements (LAs), Lease ad Development Agreements (LDAs), Memorandum of Agreement ( MOA), Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
• Render legal opinion on issues brought to it by various departments of SBMA, locators, residents and the general public
• Evaluate the legal aspect of business proposals
• Provide legal assistance to SBMA departments
