SBMA Fire & Rescue Team at Mt. Apo
Members of the SBMA Fire & Rescue Team check their equipment on Saturday, April 2, before starting the trek towards the base camp to join other volunteers in putting out the raging forest fire at Mount Apo. SBMA Chairman Roberto Garcia ordered the team to proceed to the area, after the Office of the Civil Defense Region 12 sought assistance to augment volunteer fire brigades that are now in Mount Apo. The wildfire that started on Black Saturday last week has already ruined more than 400 hectares of habitat, mostly grasslands, at the Mount Apo National Park.
