BASE WORKERS' REUNION
Former workers of the United States Naval Base in Subic Bay display placards during a parade on Friday from Olongapo City to the Subic Bay Freeport Zone as part of a weeklong grand reunion program, their first since the US military withdrew from Subic and other bases in 1992. The American pullout that resulted from the rejection by the Philippine Senate of a new lease on the bases, paved the way for the establishment of the Subic Bay Freeport, now a bustling industrial and tourism center.
