Olongapo Hall Of Fame Award As PWD Friendly City In Region 3

Olongapo City - The local government of Olongapo, headed by Mayor Rolen Paulino, was once again elevated to the hall of fame after securing the Most Outstanding PWD Friendly City in Central Luzon award. Awarded by the Regional Council on Disability Affairs, Olongapo City has consecutively kept the title for the past 3 years.

Paulino said that the award only shows that the local government of Olongapo gives priority in taking care of our PWD residents.

"We will not be receiving this award if not for our Persons with Disability Office under the care of Jun Pascua and his staff, they are doing a superb job which shows because we got this award," Paulino said.

Among those who competed for the said award were Mabalacat City, Malolos City, Angeles City, Tarlac City and San Jose del Monte.

Among the things that set the city apart from others are the comprehensive documentation of PWD programs, activities and projects such as feeding programs, free medical checkups, dental service and free eye check up and free eyeglasses.

Also, the local government passed city ordinance no. 25 series of 2014 declaring the Magna Carta for persons with disabilities and other program under the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

The city is now preparing for the same award in the national level.
